Moving forward — one step at a time

I love running. But, I won’t lie, this past year of running — has sucked. It started off promising with my ultra in February — and a couple good races. But, then in April when I sprained my ankle — it just all went downhill from there. I had to back out of a number of races or downgrade to a lower mileage. It’s been mentally and physically challenging for me. Difficult difficult lemon difficult….

The Runcast, Epi. 004: Classic Rock

There’s a new episode of The Runcast out today. In this episode I sit down with Joe Coles from On Hill Events and jam out to some classic rock, while talking about some his upcoming races. We talk about his new race — the Sun Marathon, the rebranded Antelope Island Marathon and his holiday races during Halloween and Christmas. You can listen to the episode below or log onto theruncast.net to listen to this and…

#FitnessFriday: GOING BIG!

I was kinda debating if I was going to blog today. I won’t lie — after Labor Day I just kinda stopped. Sure, I had two posts. But, one was my vacation pictures and the other was an update 2017 race schedule. Nothing that really constitutes a true blog entry. Anyways — I’ll just say that the lack of posts is because I was on blogcation. Yes, that sounds good. But, really, it was. I…

Another Look at 2017 …

I am really trying to plan out my 2017 race schedule. If you’ve been following my blog even for the past three months you’ll know I’ve been working on my 2017 schedule pretty obsessively. Which is fine. I mean, it’s always subject to change — especially being three months away from the turning of the calendar. There have been a few races I’ve been going waffling over — namely the DesNews Marathon and a few…

PedFest 16: South Fork to Jackson Hole to Yellowstone and back …

I took somewhat of a vacation last week from the bloggy blog. I was going to post something on Wednesday or Thursday before leaving for Labor Day Weekend. But, I got to Tuesday and just thought … “meh.” So, I just didn’t write anything. And, I am fine with that. This past weekend I spent time in Idaho including a day in Jackson Hole and Yellowstone with my cousins. About 6-7 years ago some of…

RACE #129: Run Elevated Half Marathon

I’ve been looking forward to this race for quite a while. Well, okay, maybe for the last three months. I wasn’t planning on racing this weekend because I needed to get a 20 mile training run in for my marathon and ultra training. I was reserving my goal half marathon race for the year for the Nebo Half which is happening this upcoming weekend. BUT — I do a little switcheroo, because I have a…

#FitnessFriday: Running Down Canyons …

This has been a crazy past week. Well, okay, not necessarily crazy — but, a little bit frustrating. Mainly because of this stupid cold. It’s just killed any rhythm and pace I was having going forward post-Whole30. But, it’s probably been good recalibrating and resting a bit. My body will definitely need it as I move into September and get ready to run three marathons this upcoming month. So it might very well be a…

Another look at my 2017 races …

Last week I celebrated the fifth anniversary of my first half marathon by running the Bountiful Handcart Days Half Marathon. This got me thinking (this usually means trouble). Next summer I’ll be celebrating my fifth anniversary of my first marathon — which was the Deseret News Marathon. Since I celebrating my fifth anniversary running half marathons at my first race, I thought I’d do the same for my marathon. Thus, I am adding the Deseret…
