Fartlek Friday XXX: That triple X stands for 30 in Roman Numerals, nothing else … k?

HAPPY FRIDAY!!! It’s been kind of a quite week for me after last week’s All-Night Marathon. Inspiration comes and goes with writing and since I haven’t done much running this past week, I haven’t written. Meh.

I haven’t entirely kept myself from running though. On Wednesday night I did some fartleking in Liberty Park. I wish I could say that was fun, but honestly I haven’t done much deliberate speed work in the past … and I should. And, I am now.

The goal is to get ready for Nebo in six weeks. My friend Sonja is going to pace Becky and I to our first sub-two. I am pretty excited. I probably should have put more speed work in before now, but I have no doubt I’ll get there. It’s physical, but also mental.

I also got a few miles in last night, but I didn’t want to over due since I am running the Timp Half tomorrow. I actually pacing the race. I am doing the 2:40 time, which will be pretty easy for me. I know I tanked my last pacing gig at the Midnight Half, but I don’t want to rehash that. Ugh. Such a miserable run.

But, I am excited to be pacing tomorrow because I have a couple friends I want to help get a PR on the race … Jill and Christy. I know Jill absolutely wants/needs this PR and I am going to make sure she gets it. She’s still running away in her marathon training for Big Cottonwood. I am excited to run that with her.

Tomorrow will be fun. I am also making some Rice Krispy Treats for friends tomorrow. For as much as I love making treats, I have to make sure to make them for others because if I don’t I end up eating them. And, that’s not the way to healthy living/eating for sure. Yay for friends!

After Timp I do have the Deseret News Half next Thursday before I go up to Wyoming for the Pioneer Day Weekend. I know it’s odd to leave Utah to celebrate a Utah holiday, but it’s going to be a fun weekend of horseback riding, four wheeling, fishing and rodeoing. Plus, a bunch of my cousins that I haven’t seen in a LONG time will be there.

But, after that I’ll have a little break from races until August 9th when I run Provo Half Marathon. Oh, actually, I lied, I am running a 5K in Liberty Park on the 2nd. Don’t you just love how am typing my thoughts when they come to me? My high school journalism teacher would be so proud of me.

Needless to say, I am gearing down for Nebo. I am going to have to do a lot of speed work and just be consistent over the next six weeks. My focus is going to be diet, running and workout. Sounds pretty routine, but the past few marathons kind of wiped my energy out in that regard. ONWARD TO NEBO!!!

Anyways, despite my lack on blogging here are a few other things that have caught my interest this week …
