I figured in celebration of National Running Day, I should celebrate by sharing with you some of my favorite running pictures. I feel like I should accompany this post with a speech of some sort, but why? Especially considering that I talk about my love for running more than enough?
So with that said … YEAH RUNNING PICTURES!!!
This is my right before my first 5K with Trainer Kevin. I should look more worried than I do.
Me and Susette after my first marathon. She ran the last eight miles with me and SAVED MY LIFE. She also beat me in a belching contest at mile 24. I’m still bitter about that.
This was one of my favorite moments, when I surprised Becky at the starting line of the Ogden Marathon. This was her first marathon and I couldn’t let her run it without me!
I’ve ran the No Snow Indoor 5K twice with the Gabicas and Susette on the campus of Utah Valley University. It’s kind of become a tradition.
Back in April 2012 I ran the Salt Lake City Half Marathon is DENIM! Like denim long pants, denim vest and the works as a fundraiser for the Huntsman Hometown Heroes in honor of my Mom who was battling breast cancer at the time.
This is one of my favorite pictures. Even though we aren’t technically “running” in this picture, it’s just SO much fun and pretty much the essence of our group. Did doesn’t hurt having a running jump pro like Fast Cory to teach you as well!
I love this picture of me trying to beat Christy at the finish line of the Boston Memorial 5K in SLC. I’m going all out and then there’s Christy beating me ready for her Facebook picture finish.
This picture means the world to me. This was the TOUGHEST race I ever ran. It was a 30K I ran with Becky. Sonja was a godsend of support both mentally, emotionally and physically. She was the best thing to happen during that miserable race.
I LOVE this picture of Jill and I crossing the finish line at the Salt Lake City Half Marathon this year. It was a tough race for both of us and since we knew we weren’t beating 3 hours we decided to stop for Slurpees at mile 12.9. Best decision ever.
This was the first time that I met Becky and we bonded over this costume. Such a long funny story. But, I love this picture.
This was me running to the finish line of my first 10K. I love this picture a couple of reasons. One, because it’s my first 10K and second, because I love the composition of the photo with the flags. I kinda want this framed.
Believe it or not this was the first time I ran wearing a cat shirt. This was during the 2013 SoJo Half Marathon.
This photo brings tears to my eyes. This was taken during the Beautiful Bountiful Half Marathon (my hometown). My Mom and Aunt stalked me for a mile on the road as I ran. This was the first time either of them came to any of my races and this meant the world to me. This was also the last time my Aunt came to one of my races as she past away five months later.
This was right after the Ogden Marathon last month. I love it. It was the first marathon she came to see me at. She doesn’t have to be at the finish line to know that I have her full support.
One of my favorite moments was from the Ogden Marathon when I got the chance to run with running icon Jeff Galloway. It was sublime. I got the chance to shoot the breeze with him and swap running stories!
I love my running group. We’re not just running friends. We’re friends. Each one is supportive of each other and will do ANYTHING for anyone. Their friendship has changed my running and life.
Me and Cousin Em running the Disneyland Half Marathon WAY back in 2011. During the days when the race didn’t cost $200.
Some of my favorite running people, Susette and Holly! Having friends that pace makes pacing goals MUCH more fun.
Running Liberty Park one of my favorite places to run not only in Salt Lake, but pretty much the world.
This was during Mile 23-24ish of the Ogden Marathon and having friends there to support you and cheer you up was SO NEEDED for Katheryn, Becky and I!
This picture was snapped at the 2013 Salt Lake City Marathon starting line. This was DAYS after the Boston Marathon. Needless to say this picture got spread around, it was on CNN, a number of websites and BuzzFeed. Plus, it’s a good picture!
This really isn’t me running, but burritos and running are synonymous to me. And, you should probably know that by now?
Having running friends with AWESOME senses of humor is always beneficial, especially when you feel bad that you missed a run. In the end, you were there.
This stop sign has a lot of significance to me. I pass it every time I run outside. It’s a long story that I’ll blog about later, but basically don’t put limits on yourself.
Running with Susette is always a blast. We never have a dull moment. Ever.
I look like a hot mess in this picture, but this is where Becky fell in love with RKs. I feel like this should be documented.
I love running with friends, but I ABSOLUTELY love being able to run with siblings. This was my second 5K that I ran and my first with my sister Jenny.
I get flak for my countless running selfies and I must admit this selfie my brother took of me taking a selfie is actually pretty funny.
I have bought a few finish line pictures of myself including this one from the St. George Marathon. Yes, I am wearing jorts. Rocking them actually.
Running Friend Selfies are some of my favorite kind of running pictures.
You know I could probably post many, many, many more running pictures. But, quite honestly I probably posted too many so I’ll leave it at this. But, really, what it boils down to is this … running isn’t a solo journey, it’s one to be shared.
I quite honestly wouldn’t have stuck with running past my marathon if it wasn’t for the friendships and people I have met. They have made the biggest difference in my running and for that make running something I always want to have a part of my life.
HAPPY NATIONAL RUNNING DAY!!!
