A little Thursday Motivation

I love a little motivation now and again and periodically I plan on sharing a few quotes to hopefully motivate and inspire you. If you have a favorite quote you’d like to share or have me make into graphic like one of these you can email me directly or comment on the post. Either way, I’d love hear some of your favorite quotes.

180 reasons I love to run

I love running. I don’t think there’s a question about that. But, truth be told, it wasn’t love at first step. It was pretty painful and I often questioned my very existence in even a short mile and a half run. But, over time as I challenged myself, ran further, made friends with other runners and raced often I found a deep profound love in running. Lifelong partners if you may. Secretly I hope there’s…

This Spartan race will be a Beast

So, back in June I registered for a Super Spartan race (obstacle course over 8+ miles) here in Utah for June 2014. I wanted to do this for a couple reasons. For one, I wanted to challenge myself. Spartan races are TOUGH. Two, I thought it would be fun. And, third, I wanted the t-shirt (yes, this is one of my weaknesses. Go ahead and call me a shirt whore). I really wanted to do something…

Half #50: New Years Half Marathon

First off, I didn’t know this was my 50th half marathon. In fact, I somehow counted it wrong? I’m not sure how I did that? I blame my eight years in special ed. I never really got past fractions. But, the Thankful 13 that I ran in November was really just my 49th half marathon. But, I had celebrated like it was my 50th. Alas, it was not. So I got to celebrate my 50th…

Half #50 is in the books

This morning I ran my 50th half marathon since July 2011. It’s also race number 55 of my 180 goal. I ran this race last year. Luckily it was MUCH warmer this year, but that didn’t take away the fact that it’s a tough course. No PR today. But, I still managed to cut off nearly 25 minutes from my last race with a 2:47:34. Not my fastest, but it got me where I wanted…

Becky’s Waffles

One thing I love about running races is the night before. Sure, I get excited like a 8 year old on Christmas Eve, but I love it for other reasons. Like, the carb load. During running season I like to carb cycle throughout the week. It helps me lean out and when I coincide my long runs with my more carb-ish days it helps me trim down and get faster. But, that’s a post for…

Fartlek Friday, Part I

Welcome to the first installment of ‘Fartlek Friday.’ If you followed me on my last blog this will basically be the same kind of post, just under a different name. Fun Friday Fanaticism was great, but a name like Fartlek Friday is truly awesome, especially considering this is a running blog. And, who doesn’t love to fartlek? Now, if you are not familiar with the word “fartlek” you can learn about it here on Wikipedia….

Proud

Tonight at the gym, I had one mission. I wanted to get in an “easy three” before my half marathon on Saturday. But, that plan failed miserably. The plan quickly turned into an “easy five” run and I just kind of … ran. It wasn’t a fartlek, sprint or training run, but a simple run. A mind clearing run. The kind of run where I end up talking to myself and run things out. I plugged…
