Somewhat of a low mileage week. I did all of my running on the treadmill for the most part. I am starting to count my walking in a separate column to make it easier to differentiate and quantify. I was planning on running 9-10 miles on Saturday, but ended up doing 5 on the treadmill. Still, not a bad week of running. I got 20.75 miles of running done and over 7.75 miles of walking. Sometimes it pays to have your car in the shop.
Anyways … here’s a recap of my running week’s individual runs.
Long Term Goal(s) – Run a sub-two half marathon by September 2014 & a 30K with Becca on April 26th for her marathon training.
Monday (2/17) – 5.25 miles (57 minutes/10:46 pace)
Treadmill, Planet Fitness – My recovery run from my 12 mile training run the week before. I warmed up after the three miles and then picked it up to about a 10 minute mile. Not a bad recovery run. Honestly, probably could have picked it up a bit more?
Tuesday (2/18) – 5 miles (53 minutes/10:34 pace) / 3 miles walking
Treadmill, Planet Fitness – I had a difficult time getting into the grove of my run. Most likely from just a loooong day of working out, errands and commuting. I started doing strength training at Firehouse Fitness at 5:15am and it will take some time adjusting to the new schedule. But, once I got into the rhythm of the run I was fine and I finished off the last three miles strong by just losing myself in the music and moment (cue Eminem).
Wednesday (2/19) – 3.5 miles walking
Thursday (2/20) – 5 miles (54 minutes/10:48 pace)
Treadmill, Planet Fitness – Not only did I run 5 miles, but I ran 5 miles on leg day. Not a smart combination. But, alas, I did it. The first two miles were pretty slow, but ended up picking up the pace quite a bit the last three miles, especially the last mile. I might regret it, but mentally I need this kind of run.
Friday (2/21) – 1.25 miles walking.
Treadmill, Home – A slow three mile run at home. I was going to run 5 miles, but the motivation just wasn’t there. I did end up playing two games of full-court basketball later in the night so I got some nice speed work in. After the two games my legs were dead and extremely SORE all day on Friday. I was kind of worried about running the training run down Emigration Canyon on Saturday, but a day’s rest was exactly what I needed.
Saturday (2/22) – 5 miles (55 minutes/11:00 pace)
Treadmill, Home – Initially I was planning on running 9-10 miles down in Orem, but circumstances made that not the case. I ended up running five miles on the treadmill at home while watching the Food Network. Not a bad combination if you ask me. I don’t feel like this will derail my goal of running my 30K in April or speedy half in September, but I did put 28 miles in during the week so my mileage was up there anyways, so I am not worried too much. Plus, I have less than 14 miles to run to get 100 miles for the month and I can manage that.
This week’s plan – 5 miles (Monday), 5 miles (Tuesday), 5 miles (Thursday) and 14 miles (Saturday).2014 Training Miles – 148.7 miles 2014 Walking Miles – 7.75 miles 2014 Race Miles – 29.3 miles
2014 Total Miles – 185.75 miles
