Somewhat of a low mileage week. I did all of my running on the treadmill for the most part. I am starting to count my walking in a separate column to make it easier to differentiate and quantify. I was planning on running 9-10 miles on Saturday, but ended up doing 5 on the treadmill. Still, not a bad week of running. I got 20.75 miles of running done and over 7.75 miles of walking. Sometimes it pays to have your car in the shop.
Anyways … here’s a recap of my running week’s individual runs.
Long Term Goal(s) – Run a sub-two half marathon by September 2014, run a 30K with Becca on April 26th for her marathon training & run the Utah Valley Marathon in June 2014.
Tuesday (2/25) – 5 miles (53 minutes/10:38 pace)
Treadmill, Planet Fitness – The miles were painfully slow to start off with. Especially considering I had a really HARDCORE leg day the day prior. But, once I got a couple miles into the run I started feeling it a bit more and picked up the pace. It was a really confidence booster to feel the strength of my legs after such a workout.
Wednesday (2/26) – 3 miles (32 minutes/10:52 pace)
Treadmill, Planet Fitness – My legs were pretty sore, plus it was a busy night so I had to sneak in my run later than I wanted. I probably would have skipped this run if I wasn’t so close to my 100 miles for the month. But, the run wasn’t anything special. I watched TV while on the treadmill. Meh.
Thursday (2/27) – 5 miles (51 minutes/10:10 pace)
Treadmill, Planet Fitness – This was a barnburner for me. Going into my run I knew I wanted a fast pace. The first couple of miles was mainly spent warming up. But, after mile two I picked up the pace quite a bit and ran a good portion of my run at my goal pace (9:04). My last mile I picked up the pace even more and average a sub-8:40 min mile. It felt awesome and I burned off a lot of energy and pent up frustration. I’ve found for an awesome fast run that’s a great combination.
Friday (2/28) – 1.25 miles walking.
University of Utah – Walked to work and ran some errands. Got my 100 miles for the month.
Saturday (3/1) – 4 miles (1:30 hour / 23:45 pace) and 7 miles (1:30 hour / 12:51 pace)
Taylorsville & Olympic Oval – Four miles was spent running the Taylorsville Urban Cart Dart while the rest was done at the Olympic Oval. I didn’t wear my Garmin to any of the runs. The paces are more estimates. There was a lot of sprinting at the Cart Dart and we took a few breaks at the Oval so I feel I was much faster than the pace indicates. But, I won’t lie, I am not the biggest fan of track work. The flat surface leaves a lot to desired. Being with the people I was with was worth it though.
This week’s plan – 5 recovery miles (Monday), 5 miles (Tuesday), 3-5 tempo miles (Wednesday), 5 miles (Thursday), 2-3 slow miles (Friday) and 15 miles (Saturday).2014 Training Miles – 168.7 miles 2014 Walking Miles – 9.0 miles 2014 Race Miles – 33.3 miles
2014 Total Miles – 211.0 miles
