Thyroids, Ankles & Blurry Eyes …

Yesterday was a marathon of a day. A day of doctor appointments. I find it easier to just take a day off from work and get as many doctor appointments in as I can. I made appointments for the orthopedist, endocrinologist and optometrist — also known as the foot doctor, thyroid doctor and eye doctor. It really was a marathon of a day. My first appointment was with the orthopedist at TOSH Foot & Ankle…

A Detour on the ‘Road to 180’

I am awaiting my orthopedic appointment next Tuesday, but knowing that I am having to back out of the 48 hour race at Jackpot — I have naturally gone to a couple of alternate plans to my race schedule. Not just for 2018, but specifically toward my 180th race. My biggest worry more than running a 100 miles is making sure that my 180th race is the Handcart Days Half Marathon on July 21st. This…

RACE #170: New Year’s Revolution Run

It’s hard to believe that this is the seventh time I’ve run this race. I still remember the first I ran it back in 2011 — I ran it alone. I didn’t know anyone, I didn’t even talk to anyone. I just came, did my miles and went home. I am a surprised that I came back the following year with that kind of experience. But, I did. This has actually become a race I…

The Joshbys 2017: Friends & Family Winners

** EDIT: I thought I pushed PUBLISH a couple of days ago. I did not. So here you are. ** I have been doing The Joshbys now for 12 years. I laugh that this has lasted this long, because — I started it as a tongue in cheek way of labeling my favorite siblings. But, I get asked about it every year around November and December. Especially when a friend felt slighted from the previous…

My Top 10 Races of 2017

As part of Joshby Week, I rank both my favorite races and race medals (coming tomorrow). Today I am ranking my top 10 favorite races of 2017. After doing over 33 races I’ve had a number to choose. I won’t lie, it was tough. I’ve had a number of awesome experiences, moments, triumphs — and quite a few defeats too. But, that’s a whole other post for another day. Needless to say, it’s been an…

The Joshbys 2017: Family & Friend Nominees

I love this time of the year. Well, I love most everything of this time of the year — I love the time spent with family and friends along with the holidays. The whole Christmas thing is my favorite. Just don’t ask me to like the snow or The Christmas Shoes. Otherwise we won’t be friends. One thing that I love about December is The Joshby Awards. This is something I’ve been doing for over…

An update of things and whatnot …

Not going to lie, I’ve been in a funky funk lately. It’s been a challenging couple of weeks coming off of my vacation. I have the motivation, it’s just the execution of what I should or should not be doing hasn’t been there. I jumped back into my keto diet after my vacation. That hasn’t been the problem. My plan is to stick to it hardcore for the next couple of months. I will then…

… and I’m back …

After 15 days abroad — I am back! There is so, so much to say about the trip. Not only did I tour Paris, Rome, Athens and other places alongside my family, but I was able to meet cousins in Athens and Crete as well. It was a life changing trip — to say the least. But, after living out of a carry-on suitcase and on some very questionable mattresses (one in which I broke,…
