It’s no secret that I have a goal to run 180 races over 13.1 miles before I turn 40 years old. I mean, that’s kind of the premise of this whole blog, right? 180lbs., 180 races, 180 degree change in my life.
So far I have ran 73 races in the three years that I have been running. I feel pretty confident that I will reach that goal before my 40th birthday. I just need to average about 13-14 races from here on out each year.
Recently, I’ve been planning out my races for 2015. My goal next year is to race, but not has much the past couple of years. By the end of this year I will have ran nearly 27 races over 13.1 miles. That’s been quite the year and with doing three marathons in those 27 races … I need to slow down.
That’s why in 2015 I am focusing on JUST half marathons. No marathons. No marathon training. Just running half marathons, getting MUCH faster, getting that sub-two and enjoying wherever it takes me.
I settled on running 12-15 half marathons next year. I felt like this would be a good number to slow down to. I could run one half a month along with a few extras during the summer. So with that in mind I started mapping out my race schedule. I came up with the following schedule …84. New Year’s Run Resolution (Jan. 1) 85. Dogtown Half Marathon (Feb. 21) 86. That’s a pretty good schedule if you ask me. Granted that’s 16 races, but I would LOVE to get to my 100th race by the end of next year. I mean LOVE!!!
But, that started making me think (uh oh). I was planning on running the Park City Half Marathon next year which lands on my 34th birthday. Instead of making the Thankful 13 my 100th half marathon … why not the Park City Half Marathon?
How epic would and special would it be if I ran my 100th race on my birthday? What a great gift I could give myself! So, I decided to tack on a few other races for 2015 so I could meet my goal.

Anyways … I’m pretty sure I am going to shoot for my 100th race to be the Park City Half. I am excited about that. It should be a party!
